Function

ANTXR1 (ANTXR Cell Adhesion Molecule 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with ANTXR1 include Gapo Syndrome and Tetramelic Deficiencies, Ectodermal Dysplasia, Deformed Ears, And Other Abnormalities. Among its related pathways are Cellular roles of Anthrax toxin and Uptake and actions of bacterial toxins. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include actin filament binding. An important paralog of this gene is ANTXR2.

ANTXR1, a trans-membrane protein, is encoded by highly conserved tumor endothelial marker 8 gene (9, 10). The cleaved C5A fragment of Collagen VI 3 serves as its physiological ligand. ANTXR1 interacts with lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6 (LRP6) and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 and modulates signaling downstream of Wnt and VEGF, respectively. Furthermore, ANTXR1 is selectively expressed in tumor vasculature and promotes tumor angiogenesis.
